About SOB

Perkumpulan Save Our Borneo [SOB] adalah sebuah organisasi non-pemerintah [NGOs] yang legal berbadan hukum Perkumpulan, SOB didirikan oleh 4 orang Eksekutif Daerah WALHI di Kalimantan pada tahun 2005, yaitu Berry Nahdian Forqon [Kalimantan Selatan], Yohanes [Kalimantan Barat], Syarifuddin [Kalimantan Timur] dan Nordin [Kalimantan Tengah]

SOB aims to ensure that the management of Borneo is carried out fairly and democratically through the administration of good and clean governance and respect for human rights, the values of the wisdom of indigenous people, and local culture, and paying attention to the people's rights to continuity of life between generations.

To achieve its goals, all SOB activities and steps must be aimed at the interests of the people above all. The people must be given the right and have enough space to make choices on the development they need. The people must also be given the right to say NO to development they don't want.

SOB works legally by influencing and being involved in determining policies and working with other community groups to uphold people's supremacy and sovereignty in determining the sustainability of nature and sources of life. Therefore, SOB at least spoke to strengthen the people's capacity, carry out strategic studies, carry out propaganda for management of natural assets and sources of life that take side with the people, collect and provide data, documentation, and information for Borneo and continue to build networks and partnerships with all parties which has the potential to support SOB in achieving the goal of saving Borneo from the dimensions of Ecology, Geo-Politics and the Level of Local Customary Wisdom.
